Franks wanted to win it for Del Rio

Inside the Gators

As Feleipe Franks answered his first question after leading Florida to a 38-24 win over Vanderbilt, he lifted up his left arm to show he had written “Luke” under his wrist band at halftime when the team learned starting quarterback Luke Del Rio would not be returning in the second half. Del Rio is out for the season and will have surgery on his collarbone Monday.

“I wrote ‘Luke’ under my wristband,” Franks said. “I’m praying for him and his family. It’s tough when you go out there and take a big hit like that and get hurt. Fortunately, it’s never happened to me, but definitely it’s one of those things you never want to have happen to you.

“I’m praying for him. Everybody on the team is. We’re feeling for him. All we can do is pray for him. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery.”
