Role Reversal: Offense to the forefront
Kassidy Hill
Inside the Gators

The Florida defense got to see the game from a difference perspective than they’re used to on Saturday during the Gators 38-24 win over Eastern division foe Vanderbilt. They got to see it from the sideline, at least for a decent portion.

A unit that has become known as the teams fail safe, constantly having to bail out an inept offense, got a break as the Gators controlled the ball and the time of possession. Florida won the category 36 minutes to 24. Despite losing starting quarterback Luke Del Rio to a season ending shoulder injury in the first half, redshirt freshman Feleipe Franks was able to match the pace for a productive day.

Said Franks, "Luke came out starting each drive with tempo like most veterans have. The guys came up to me (when I came in) and wanted to keep that tempo going, keep the drives going, keep on converting on third downs. When we got in the red zone, the line did a great job of opening up holes for the running backs to hit. That's a really big part of it, keeping the tempo, staying on the field, and that's a testament to everybody, the other 10 around me, they made it easy on me to do my job. They did all of the hard work and that's a testament to them, they work their tails off every day of the week."
