Monday night, Florida unveiled new "swamp green" alternate uniforms to celebrate 25 years of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium being known as The Swamp.

Six players met with the media after practice on Tuesday and the new uniforms were a hot topic. Players offered their thoughts on the uniforms and also commented on fans' reactions.

Sophomore wide receiver Josh Hammond

Uniforms cool because they’re different?

“Definitely cool because it’s different. Nobody’s ever done it before, so this will be a one-time thing that will go down in the history books for us because we finally got a chance to try something different in a Gator uniform. It’s definitely cool and I’m glad to be a part of it.”

Were you surprised when you saw them?

“Definitely was surprised. I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know we were getting an alternate jersey from the jump. When we saw them, a lot of guys were ecstatic to get it on and finally come out with something different.”

When did you find out?

“Yesterday.”

A lot of fans criticizing it.

“I don’t really know. I haven’t really seen the criticism or whatever, but all the guys on the team think it’s pretty cool making history by wearing something different. This will be a one-time thing and we’re just gonna roll with it.”

What do you like about it?

“My favorite part would probably be the helmets. I think I like the helmets the most. I don’t know, there’s just something about them. Something different from wearing the orange or the white helmet, to come out with a different color. I just like the matte.”

Did you get new jerseys yet?

“No. We don’t see our jerseys until game day.”

Any worries in regards to being able to see each other?

“I don’t think so. I think we’ll know who is who.”

No camouflage concerns?

“I think we’ll be fine. I’m pretty sure A&M will wear like all white or something. We’ll be able to tell.”
