Getting to Know: Zachary Carter

There are two things we know for certain about Class of 2017 Florida signee Zachary Carter: the Tampa (Fla.) Hillsborough product is extremely talented and when it comes to recruiting, extremely boring and predictable.

Both are a great traits to possess as far as the Gator Nation is concerned.

Coming in at No. 84 overall in the Rivals100, the 6-foot-4, 237-pounder was Florida's highest rated signee.

If that isn't a big enough of a plus, there also wasn't a bit of drama in his recruiting process. He committed to the Gators in June of 2016 and never wavered before signing in February of 2017.

Now that we got that out of the way, it's time to learn a little bit more about Carter on a personal level in this edition of Getting to Know.

You were looked at by a bunch of different schools, but what led you to choose Florida?

“Well, that’s been my dream school growing up. I always wanted to be a Gator, so that made it easy. With my first visit, I felt like it was home. They’re a top school for what I want to major in, so I made the decision.”

What is your major?

“Broadcast Journalism.”

Take us through the process that led to your commitment. What was that experience like for you?

“It was a pretty cool experience. I remember when I first got the offer, I was visiting the Gators. I didn’t think I was going to get an offer that day, and I ended up getting an offer. I will never forget that day. That being my dream school, that made the rest of the recruitment process easier with the Gators. I always enjoyed my visits. I always loved to go up there. And I’ve built great relationships with the coaches and some of the other players.”

Which school came in second for you and why?

“Clemson came in second. They gave me the same experience that I said about UF. It is a great school, great program, and great people.

What would you say are some of your greatest strengths as a football player?

“I think I’m a really instinctive player. I have some techniques and some moves that I still need to work on.”

What do you really need to work on the most when you get to Florida?

“I really want to work on the point of attack, being stronger coming off the ball. Also, working on different pass rushing skills so I can be an effective pass rusher.”

What place would you love to live in right now if you could drop everything and move there?

"I would probably go to California."
