KISSIMMEE, Fla. | One of the biggest Florida related news items from Monday's Under Armour All-American Game Week practice session was that signee Evan McPherson had his second big day on the field, booming five field goals. It was an impressive performance by the nation’s second-ranked kicker, who ripped off high, sailing kicks in the rain and wind all day long. His longest on New Year’s Day was a 48-yarder from the right hash.
“You just want to make sure you go out there and set your form,” said McPherson, who hails from Fort Payne, Alabama.
On Sunday, McPherson made eight field goals, including a 53-yarder. But the opening practice session was held in sunshine and mid-60-degree weather. “I don’t think I did as good (Monday) as I did yesterday,” he said.
Meanwhile, wide receiver and UF target Jacob Copeland is developing a nice relationship with Jones. After the first day of practice, Copeland said Jones “kept telling me, ‘I got you.’”
