James Robinson is still catching up and as far as Jim McElwain is concerned will hopefully - over time - be a game changer for an offense that has been stagnant for quite some time. The freshman, who missed the Summer B work outs and missed the first day of Fall camp last Thursday, had a chance to introduce himself to the team formally, like every freshman does when they step foot on campus.
“Well, what we did is what we did every new guy,” explained McElwain on the arrival of the newcomers. “They stand up, state their name, where they’re from, their position, just like every newcomer that comes in. He just happened to do it at the end of practice, because it was the first time he was in front of the team. Here’s one thing about our team: these older guys understand how to take care of these younger guys a little bit. And they’ll take him under their wings and get him acclimated as soon as possible. And you know I’m excited for this opportunity. This opportunity to not only play football, but his opportunity to get an education at a great university. I mean, this is, when you go through life, it’s called taking advantage of the opportunity. And for him, it’s a real good opportunity.”
The wide receiver stands tall at 6-foot-4, 205-pounds as a freshman and could see the field as a possession type of receiver for the Gators.

Robinson not only possesses great size for a wide out, he can go up and get the ball and take the top off of the defense.
McElwain says that the freshman still has to make up for lost time to get to where he needs to be individually and for the team.
"Time will tell,” said McElwain. “He's got a long ways to go obviously not being here in Summer B and getting here late (for) practice. So, the catch-up piece for him is not trying to get it all at once but let's perfect it little by little and see if he can get out there and help us."
