Grantham a big believer in Robinson
It was Christmas 2017 and Christian Robinson, the former Georgia Bulldog linebacker who was at the time coaching at Mississippi State, was surrounded by family members and newly purchased Florida Gators gear. They were preparing for what they believed to be Robinson’s immediate future. After all Dan Mullen had just left Miss. St. for the Gators and Todd Grantham would be stepping into the defensive coordinator role. So history had taught them Christian would be next.
“It was kind of living in limbo for a little bit. You're sitting there with your family and it's Christmas and, you know, family is buying gear that; they're excited. They know what's coming…I'm like 'Mom and Dad, just wait. We don't know yet.' It was exciting times, but nerve-racking.”
Then finally, the phone rang.
“The day that [Coach Grantham] called me it was the greatest day of my life up to this point. Just to have the opportunity to work at a school like this for a coach like him and the staff that coach Mullen put together. It's exciting because you can do great things here. Yeah, I'll never forget that day."
