In just under 24 hours from now, at roughly 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning, the world will know where Clearwater (Fla.) Calvary Christian athlete Amari Burney will be attending college.

The date has been set for months now.

Chosen for one specific reason, it is the birth-date of his deceased grandfather. It is a way to honor his memory.

On Thursday morning the Rivals250 athlete will choose from among three finalists – Florida, Ohio State and Virginia Tech.

“My parents asked me, what are the last visits I wanted to take before I made my decision and I said those three,” said Burney. “I wanted to visit them and compare them one last time.”

He broke down what he likes about all three.

Florida: “I see them as a program that's moving up. Coach Mac [Jim McElwain] came in there and won 10 games two years in a row. I really like Coach Nuss [area recruiting coach Doug Nussmeier]. Plus, look at all the DB's they've put in the NFL.”

Ohio State: “They have so many things going their way, but what I liked the most is they have Urban Meyer and Greg Schiano. They have a lot of history behind their name. They've put a lot of DB's in the NFL. Ohio State is a great school in general.”

Virginia Tech: “Really, they are one of my top schools because of the coaches. My cousin [Brandon Facyson] gave me an inside report on how the coaches there really are. How they treat the players, how they coach at practice, how they talk to you when they aren't recruiting you and have you as a player. I didn't get that inside look with any other school.”

Tune into Rivals on Thursday for full coverage on the Burney announcement.
